Nani made his first pre-season appearance for Manchester United against Espanyol and made an early impression on the game when he chipped the ball over the Espanyol defence which nearly resulted in putting Carlos Tevez in the clear after 14 minutes.

Nani could have opened the scoring not long after this when Paul Scholes’ shot bounced off the post and into his path. Unfortunately, he pulled his shot wide of the right-hand upright.

Man United always looked a threat whenever they went forward and should have been at least two goals ahead by the interval. Nani will be better off for the run and will be looking for increased game time in coming matches.

At the interval, Nani was replaced by Reserve forward Fraizer Campbell who scored in the 82nd minute to seal the victory.
