There has been plenty of speculation around as to whether Nani will be leaving Manchester United.  Well, the latest story doing the traps is that he will be offered to Wigan Athletic to help secure the deal for Antonio Valencia.

To be honest no decision has been made yet and it is purely speculation.  I would be interested in your thoughts if you think it is time for Nani to start at a new club or stay at Manchester United and try to establish his place in the team.

Darron Gibson’s 24th minute goal proved enough for Manchester United whose team of youngsters and experienced fringe players, controlled the match for long periods.

The average age of the side was 23 and none of the expected Champions League final starters played.

Nani was menacing and his 35-yard strike was saved by Boaz Myhill.

Nani’s was on his game from the outset and his menacing runs caused havoc in City’s defense.

Manchester United meet Barcelona in Rome next Wednesday endeavoring to retain their European crown.

Nani has told Sky Sports News that Manchester United’s preparations for the UEFA Champions League final are going according to plan.

Nani believes the team is strong enough to win and one of the main reasons is because Manchester United are experienced in the competition.

Nani added “We are relaxed and prepared for the game.”

The game at Stadio Olimpico will see two of the games greatest players Cristiano Ronaldo and  Lionel Messi coming head to head.

Manchester United defeated Derby County 4-1 at Pride Park to move into the final eight of the FA Cup. Scorers were Nani, Darron Gibson and Danny Welbeck and Cristiano Ronaldo.

Nani put United ahead on 29 minutes with a great strike which gave Rams goalkeeper Stephen Bywater no chance when it hit the top corner. Derby struggled to cope with pace of Nani.

It was Nani’s sixth goal of the season and he is certainly specialising in long range strikes.

Increased work on the training paddock is starting to reap rewards for Nani and Manchester United.

United visit Swansea or Fulham in the quarter-final.

Nani recently spoke to the Manchester Evening News about his performances last season for Manchester United compared to this season.  He said:
“Last season was good. I was pleased with my games and my contribution to the team.”

“This season I hoped it would be better. When I get my chances my aim is to do better than I did at the start of the season. I would like to play more times but it hasn’t been the same as last season.”

He added: ‘I am still confident. It is difficult when you play one game and then are out for two matches. You want to stay in for a run of matches.

‘You really need three, four or five games for your confidence to build and your fitness to be right. You can do anything when your confidence is high.’

The goal Nani scored in the Carling Cup will increase his confidence even more and just like every footballer, when their confidence is high, they perform.

Nani scored a cracker goal in the 16th minute to help cement Manchester United a place in the Carling Cup Final.

From distance, Nani swerved inside and unleashed a thunderbolt that gave the keeper no chance.  Nani has been under pressure of late from some quarters, however hopefully this brilliant goal will silence some of his critics and ignite his confidence for the remainder of the season.
