Nani scored his first in the 17th minute when he hit a low shot past the Wolves keeper and this was followed by his second in the 56th minute after finishing off a very good cross from Valencia.

Nani certainly put in a man of the match performance and he is currently in superb form which he has continued on from Switzerland last week.  Overall, United were by far the better team and Manchester United need both Nani and Wayne Rooney to continue their goal scoring form to get back on top of the premiership.

This was very much a rollercoaster game and highly entertaining.  Nani came off the bench, however he did have an impact when he came on and played an important role in United achieving a point from the game.

Sir Alex Ferguson would have been happy to come away from Brittania Stadium with a point considering the disruption caused to the side through the loss of Wayne Rooney before the game with a hamstring injury and Jonny Evans in the warm up with a foot injury.  This was further compounded with the loss of Javier Hernandez shortly after the start of the game.

After being the better side for most of the first half, United still trailed 2-0 at half-time. After the break however, things changed and goals from Chris Smalling and Nani squared it all up at 2-2 before the Portuguese winger snatched the stoppage time winner.

Manchester United have won this curtain-raiser to the Premiership season four times in the last five years.

“I couldn’t believe we were 2-0 down at half-time after it looked like we were controlling the game but credit to the players, they kept their heads,” Sir Alex Ferguson said.

Great start to the season for Nani and hopefully a sign of things to come.

Within seconds of Nani entering the game, David Villa Scored which sealed the result for Barcelona.

Nani is still upbeat about the future of the younger players at manchester United, saying that they will learn from the experience.

Nani told The Sun “I think we will be better in the next years.

“It was a very good season, now I can promise more work next season and try to get better.

He added, “When I came on I was very confident I’d make a difference and help the team. But it was a bad moment.”

Nani is hopeful of being named in the starting line up tomorrow against Barcelona in the Champions League Final.  He told reporters that “When I am at home and watching TV I think about Barcelona’s players in a totally different way than if I am playing against them.” “Messi is the best player in the world. I like to see him play and see the things he does.  He inspires other players to do different things as well.

Nani went on to add that “But on the pitch I want to be better than them.

“Every day I am on the training ground I always practice. I want to improve the things I am not good at. I am trying to be mentally stronger.

“I am not perfect but feel with more experience I can contribute more to the team.”
