Nani came on as a substitute for Gomes in the 67th minute and crossed a great ball to Helder Postiga to create a second half goal. Nani looked menacing in attack, however Germany hung on in the end and won the quarter final clash 3-2.
Nani wanted to give more back to the fans and was disappointed that Portugal did not advance. After the game he said “We know that the fans were supporting us and we wanted at least one more game. We know football is just like this.”
Nani felt that he could have contributed more to Portugals bid to win Euro 2008.
“I wanted to play more and I worked hard for that, but I am not the one that decides. The team were playing well, so I understand the decision,” he said.

I prefer Nani in the starting lineup instead of Nuno Gomes. This euro 2008 quarterfinal game showed just how much he can help setup and score goals himself. He deserved to play more minutes.
Yes, good point. I think he is learning to be more of a team player and that was evidenced in Euro 2008 when he did more to set teammates up instead of always going himself.
