Portugal played the better football for the majority of the game however they ended up missing too many chances on goal.
“If you play well but don’t score you pay the price,” Portugal coach Carlos Queiroz said. “We’d done enough to win this game.”
Nani opened the scoring three minutes before the end of the first half after slotting the ball through the Denmark goalkeeper’s legs. It was a great cross from Hugo Almeida.
Denmark finished the game stronger and scored their final two goals in the last five minutes with the winner coming from Daniel Jensen in injury time.
Nani had another solid game without being spectacular.

Portugal started their Soccer World Cup qualifying campaign in fine style on Saturday with a 4-0 victory in Malta.
Their first goal came 25 minutes in when Jose Bosingwa delivered a low cross and Said deflected the ball into his own net as he tried to clear the ball.
Nani then went close to doubling Portugal’s lead before halftime but his lob from inside the penalty box was saved by the Malta goalkeeper Justin Haber.
Nani had a strong game and always looked dangerous on the ball. It was a Nani shot that resulted in the third goal when Justin Haber had knocked a dangerous shot from Nani away only to be slotted away by Simao Sabrosa in the 70th minute. Nani shortly after in the 78th minute fired home Portugal’s fourth goal.
Portugal host Denmark in their second Group One qualifier on Wednesday while Malta are away to Albania. The other teams in Group One are Sweden and Hungary.
