Nani’s Injury
Filed Under Premiership | 2 Comments
Sir Alex Ferguson has told a press conference that he is unsure of when Nani will return. Sir Alex said:
“We’ve managed to stitch [the wound],” “What we’re guarding against now is infection. The swelling has gone down a great deal which is good news.”
Nani will not play in Saturday’s FA Cup quarter-final against Arsenal, and will also miss Tuesday’s Champions League last 16 second leg tie with Marseille.
“To give you a date as to when he’s coming back is difficult,” added Sir Alex. “On the plus side we have a two-week international break after next Saturday which he will be ready for the return from that. But whether we can get him fit for the Bolton match is difficult to say.”
As important it is to have Nani back on the park, we dont want to see him back too early and risk doing further damage to the injury if it is not sufficiently healed.

Nani opened the scoring in the 41st minute and increased his goal tally for Manchester United to 28 with a superb first touch and shot low beyond Joe Hart. However, the talking point after the game was definitely Wayne Rooney’s spectacular acrobatic aerial volley into the top corner in the 78th minute to seal the win for Sir Alex Ferguson’s men.
