Manchester United moved to top spot in Group E in the UEFA Champions League with a 3-0 win over Aalborg in Denmark.  Wayne Rooney scored in the first half while Dimitar Berbatov scored a double in the second half.

Nani played and looked sharp, always looking to penetrate and get forward.  He had five shots on goal, however none caused the Keeper any trouble.

Manchester United beat Middlesbrough at Old Trafford which ensures them a place in the next round of the Carling Cup.

Nani played the full game and as a result he was on the ball a lot in the first half and had several shots on goal.

Manchester United were always in control and late in the game, Nani seized on an error at the back before rounding the Middlesborough keeper and putting the ball away.

Nani is looking very sharp.

Portugal played the better football for the majority of the game however they ended up missing too many chances on goal.

“If you play well but don’t score you pay the price,” Portugal coach Carlos Queiroz said. “We’d done enough to win this game.”

Nani opened the scoring three minutes before the end of the first half after slotting the ball through the  Denmark goalkeeper’s legs.  It was a great cross from Hugo Almeida.

Denmark finished the game stronger and scored their final two goals in the last five minutes with the winner coming from Daniel Jensen in injury time.

Nani had another solid game without being spectacular.

Manchester United star Nani wants to be known as a world class footballer in his own right and does not like it when he is compared to Ronaldo.

”I do not want to be compared with Cristiano Ronaldo,” said Nani. “We have different functions and our style of play is different.

”My dream is not to be better than Cristiano Ronaldo, but to be considered as one of the major stars of world football.”

”To be the best I will have to work hard, I believe that I can be stronger and if I do that I will get where I want to be.”

Nani has matured both on and off the field and he has shown glimpses of his football brilliance in recent matches.  We are all looking forward to an exciting season.

Portugal started their Soccer World Cup qualifying campaign in fine style on Saturday with a 4-0 victory in Malta.

Their first goal came  25 minutes in when Jose Bosingwa delivered a low cross and Said deflected the ball into his own net as he tried to clear the ball.

Nani then went close to doubling Portugal’s lead before halftime but his lob from inside the penalty box was saved by the Malta goalkeeper Justin Haber.

Nani had a strong game and always looked dangerous on the ball.  It was a Nani shot that resulted in the third goal when Justin Haber had knocked a dangerous shot from Nani away only to be slotted away by Simao Sabrosa in the 70th minute.   Nani shortly after in the 78th minute fired home Portugal’s fourth goal.

Portugal host Denmark in their second Group One qualifier on Wednesday while Malta are away to Albania. The other teams in Group One are Sweden and Hungary.
