Nani Football is the ultimate fan site for the young Portuguese football star Luís Carlos Almeida da Cunha, best known as Nani. The young player signed for Manchester United this season for a reported fee of £14.5 million from Sporting Lisbon. He follows in the footsteps of new team-mate Cristiano Ronaldo who signed from Lisbon in 2003. He plays as a winger and has already featured for Man Utd a number of times this season, scoring the winning goal against Spurs.

Nani has asked forgiveness for his actions during and after the game where he left before the end of the match.

“I want to publicly ask for forgiveness, firstly of my team-mates, who were forced into a greater effort during more than 60 minutes, secondly of my manager and coaches, and thirdly of the Manchester United fans who have given me so much affection.”

“Believe me, it was very difficult. At that moment I only wanted to disappear. And that was exactly what I did. And I also ask forgiveness of the fans and the club for that.

“As I left then, I didn’t have time to be with my team at the end. But on Tuesday I’ll be in the changing room to redeem myself for my mistake, that is to personally ask forgiveness for the act from my team-mates and manager and coaches.”

Sir Alex Ferguson was unhappy with Nani after being sent off for headbutting in Manchester United’s 4-1 win against West Ham yesterday.

As a result of a headbutt during the first half, the 21-year-old will receive a 60,000 pound fine in addition to missing the next three Premier League fixtures.

This means he will miss United’s potential title-clincher at Wigan next weekend, as well as the first two games of next season.

And Sir Alex Ferguson admits he was thoroughly disappointed in Nani’s actions, insisting the former Sporting man’s petulance tarnished an otherwise dominant display against the Hammers.

“The game was marred by the immaturity of Nani,” said the United boss. “He bought the challenge from their player and retaliated. He will learn from that.

“There is no excuse,” said the Scot. “He showed a measure of immaturity and we will deal with it.”

Cristiano Ronaldo missed a penalty kick in the first leg of the Champions League semi final at Nou Camp as Manchester United drew 0-0 with Barcelona.

Nani said “I had to comfort Cristiano in the changing room after the game as he was very down after missing the penalty.”

Nani went on to say that “He (Ronaldo) is a born winner and he’ll help us beat Barcelona and reach the final. All of us have given him encouragement. He’s been so instrumental for us all season and has won so many games for us”.

“We’ll be ready to knock them out at Old Trafford.”

Nani has been named in the Manchester United squad to face Blackburn at Ewood Park on Saturday. He has overcome a thigh injury and Sir Alex Ferguson says that he has a good chance of being involved.

Nani has been out of contention since picking up a thigh injury against Liverpool at Old Trafford last month.

The squad for the Blackburn game is : Van der Sar, Kuszczak, Foster, Brown, Neville, Ferdinand, Vidic, Pique, O’Shea, Evra, Silvestre, Ronaldo, Anderson, Scholes, Carrick, Hargreaves, Giggs, Park, Nani, Rooney, Tevez

Man Utd won 3-0, with Nani scoring and providing an assist. His goal was the 3rd, but the best of the afternoon.
He ran across the goal from left to right, but his strike into the left corner tricked Reina, who was left standing.

“Having Cristiano around has really helped me,” said the fellow Portuguese player.

“At the start, it was quite hard and I didn’t speak English at all. But when I didn’t understand something, he could tell me what has been said.

“I am very good friends with Cristiano and have been for a long time. But the entire squad gets on and now, I speak a little bit of English, we joke all the time.”

Nani is the latest Manchester Utd player to express his excitement at the current squad. Sir Alex Ferguson has already stated that he thinks it is his strongest ever team.

Although, never guaranteed a place in the starting 11, Nani is anxious to win the double in his first season at Utd. He is happy with his impact so far and has scored a couple of spectacular goals.

“I know it will be very difficult to win both trophies,” he said.

“But I also know it is is possible because Manchester United have a great team and a fantastic squad and we play good football.
